The College of the Canyon Lends Helping Hand to Hart District Robotics Team

Matthew Morris Lays Down the Law With Own Practice

Matthew Morris came to the College of Canyons in 2004 as a wide receiver on the football team.

Eleven years later, the former Cougar COC is on the verge of a career advancement as the founder of practical law Morris, a business based in San Fernando Valley is the logical product of years of dedication and ambition.

After spending two years in the COC, Morris began to take classes at Santa Monica College, only to return COC in 2007, when he heard about the new program paralegal studies, being initiated by then-Professor Deborah Orlik.

"Literally there was nothing like what I experienced (COC)," Morris said. "The teachers really liked and wanted to see you well, and the quality of the learning environment was something I had not experienced up to that point -. That really, really pushed me"

In autumn 2008, he enrolled at the University of California at Riverside, a move that led to one of the most physically challenging chapters in the life of young law student.

At that time Morris and her daughter two years have not been able to find accommodation near the campus of Riverside and were subsequently placed on a waiting list of 18-month-long.

Because he was a transfer student, and their window of time in college was limited to begin with, Morris elected to keep his family in Santa Clarita and make the 174 mile round trip commute to class.

"Just met Matthew for a short period of time, but it was enough to give me the impression that he was someone who would do anything to achieve their goals and dreams," said Nicole Faudree, Chairman of the Department of paralegal studies college. "I know it took a lot of sacrifice, but the rewards are endless."

After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree, Morris passed the admission test and completed his academic career in the southwestern law school.

Morris spent his years after college early in a litigation insurance company, while also accumulating other professional achievements.

The former player of COC football, which is now a husband and father of three, worked for a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, as well as business and legal affairs at NBC Universal Film Music before opening his own business in 2014.


"When you start your own business, and not have that conventional rhythm 09:00 to 17:00," added Morris. "Business does not stop and it is exciting to continue. This was just a vision that came to me piece by piece, and fortunately things lined up."

The College of the Canyons Football Player has signed a national letter of intent

Tim White the College of the Canyons All-State wide receiver has signed a national letter of intent with Arizona State University and will continue his career as a Sun Devil.

Tim White has an outstanding record, as Hart High School graduate, He scored 55 catches for 667 yards and 6 touchdowns. Cougars in the team, had an average of 12.1 yards per catch in 2014.

As the college's main kick returner, White also returned 29 kicks for 812 Yard and a touchdown, including a time gain of 100 yards.

Tim White became a member of the football team All-California Community College because he scored 1,554 all-purpose yards for the Cougars.




He was also named to the the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) All-League Northern League, earning a selection of the first team offensive for its ability to receive and a selection of the first team defensive for his skill as an expert in exchange.

Tim White is an amazing athlete, in 2013, won the state JC All-American and also became champion in the national championship Junior USA

According to Ted Iacenda Canyon College Football Head Coach, Tim White is an athlete who has the primary capacity, is a very special athlete.

"Lacenda also said that if Tim White is a phenomenon, an athlete who has a great ability and has extraordinary courage. He is an athlete that you can be proud of all.

Four members of the College of Women’s Volleyball Program Signed National Letters of Intent

Four members of the College of the Canyons Volleyball Women program signed national letters of intent on Wednesday, with the sophomores to Serena LeDuff, Kaitlyn Reiner, Keirstyn Anderson and Lauren Underwood each receiving scholarships to continue their careers playing in the school and four years.

A person named Anderson will play at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Lauren Underwood will play for Newberry College. While Serena LeDuff, Kaitlyn Reiner will join Southern Arkansas University

All three institutions are competing at the level "NCAA Division II."

"This has been an amazing group. He said women's volleyball coach in the COC for Lisa Hooper from their early days in the program,to focus on their job then they should split up, they are smart kids, not only in the field of justice but also in the field of sports.

He was also top scorer in the Cougars in 2014, scoring 220 kills and 175 digs 68.33 aces and a total of 23 blocks outside hitter.

Women's volleyball team in the Code of Conduct ended the 2014 season with a 21-4 record, while going undefeated in conference play to clinch the WSC Cougars second consecutive South championship.

Parents can register their children for the Summer Institute 2015

Cutting the Ribbon at the New Culinary Arts Center by COC

12th Annual Children’s ‘Play Day’ in College of the Canyons at 25 April

12th annual event, Play Day will be held to commemorate the part of the Nationally celebrated Week of the Young Child and which became poultice home is The College of the Canyons Center for Early Childhood Education (ECE) and the Southern California Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (SCVAEYC).
